NHS 111

If you are not feeling well and cannot wait until the surgery opens, please called NHS 111 and they can give you advise about what sort of care you may require. The NHS 111 services is staffed by fully trained advisors, supported by experienced practitioners. They are able to organise an emergency appointment or ambulance for you if this is appropriate.

NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Calls are free from landlines and mobile phones.

When To Use It

You should use the NHS 111 service if you require urgent medical help but it is not a life threatening situation.  Call 111 if:

  • You require swift medical assistance but it is not a 999 emergency.
  • You think you may need to visit A&E or require another NHS lead urgent care service.
  • You  are not able to call a GP and/or do not know who to contact.
  • You  require health information or reassurance about the next step.

Choosing the Right Care

Choosing the right care means helping you to get the right treatment at the right time.

Working with the neighbouring CCGs, Harrow CCG has launched the ‘Not Always A&E‘ campaign to encourage residents to use their NHS wisely.

The campaign reminds North West London residents that there is a wide range of healthcare services available to them, and they can get better quickly if they choose the right care for their need.

GP Access Centres

These GP Access Centres provide additional clinical times, during a period when there are considerable pressures on your GP practice. This service enables patients to receive timely access to primary care services in their locality, but not necessarily at their usual GP practice.

These Access Centres enable GP practices to direct patients to a local practice that is open during evenings and weekends, in order to achieve 08:00 – 20:00 access to primary care.

Access appointments must be booked before arriving at the Access Clinics via the Practice or by calling NHS 111.
